Moscow High School Graduation Requirements-24 total credits

(Kansas requires 21 total credits) Through the Class of 2027

4 Units - English (Required: ELA 9 [freshman], ELA 10 [sophomore], ELA 11 [junior], ELA 12 [senior]). English Composition I & II can substitute for English IV.

3 Units - Social Studies (Required: 1 credit of American Govt. [senior year], 1 credit of American History [junior year], 1 credit of World Geography/History [sophomore year])

1 Unit - Fine Arts (This can be Band, Choir, Art, etc.)

3 Units - Science (General Science [freshman], Biology [sophomore], Chemistry or A&P)

3 Units - Mathematics (can include Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Business and Consumer Math, Intermediate Algebra/ College Algebra)

1 Unit - Health/PE (freshman year)

*1 Unit - Computer Applications (Publications, Computers)

The state will also require 2 PostSecondary Assets–Examples include an ACT score of 21 or higher, 9+ college hours, a State Assessment Score of 3 or 4, an ASVAB score for military branch, Senior Project/ Senior Exit Interviews, 90% Attendance, Apprenticeships, 40+ hours of Community Service, CTE Scholar, Participation in School Activities.

The state will require Seniors to fill out the FAFSA. Parents can opt out.

Moscow Scholars Curriculum (Requirements to attend SCCC Senior Year)

Consists of the following and must be completed by the end of the student’s junior year with a 3.0 GPA:

English- 3 units, (English IV can be taken for dual credit with a college English Composition class)
4 units required for graduation. English must include substantial recurrent practice in writing extensive and structured papers, extensive reading of significant literature, and significant experience in speaking and listening.

Mathematics- 3 units
3 units required for graduation. One year of each of the following: Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry.

Science- 2 units, (One science could be taken senior year in the afternoon OR a college science could be taken for dual credit)
3 units required for graduation. One year of any of the following: Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology, and Physical Science.

Social Studies- 2 units, (American Government must be taken in the afternoon of senior year if not taken previously)
3 units required for graduation. One year of World Geography/History, American History, and American Government.

Foreign Language- 1 unit
1 unit required for graduation.

To qualify for taking college classes at a college campus in the morning of one's senior year, the Moscow Scholars Curriculum must be completed by the end of the student's junior year and students must maintain a 3.0 GPA.
A minimum of 9 college credit hours must be taken per semester.
